Also, the 20 lb. at larger sizes and 10 lb. at smaller sizes is just a guideline. I know it always takes more than that for me because of how I carry my weight and how I lose it.

For example, I have some size 14 tops I can fit into nicely but some size 16 pants that I can't button the waist band. I'm losing more from my top than my bottom and my waist is the last place the weight is coming of from.

It took me forever to get out of the size 20s too.

I can't stress how important it is to take measurements during your journey.  I too didn't change sizes for long time and then I hit periods where it seems like I zipped right through other sizes.  I also have noticed that sometimes my measurements in my hips go up when they go down in my waist and abdomen.... this is due to the extra skin.... the extra, loose skin can make clothes fit very differently from one day to another, for me.

Just keep doing what you know you need to do and pretty soon it will start to show.  People barely noticed the 50 lbs on me, but what a difference it started to make at 75 and 100lbs.

Inches are a much better indicator at times than pounds.... and don't worry when the inches go up and down a bit.... just remember your skin is loosing its underlying fat that was holding it up.

Have you ever noticed how people who are losing weight like us, start to look deflated, and yet people who are gaining weight, or holding weight look stuffed and puffed.  Don't worry about the numbers.... look in the mirror and get used to the new you.... take measurements and pictures, you will be happy you did and it will help you move your mental image of yourself as your physical body changes.

Chin up!!!!

Thanks for all the replies and encouragement :-)

I am so happy that I am not the only one who had this kind of experience.  Some clothes are too loose but some fit just the same.

And I agree that even after 50lbs, some people seem to notice I have lost some weight but not many.  Someone the other day said "oh yeah, its look like you lost a little bit of weight" and when I said it was 50lbs he just said "oh no it doesn't look like you lost that much" Great. thanks.  I am hoping, hoping, hoping to lose another 25 lbs by Christmas and then hopefully be down at least one size.

thanks again!

Most likely you are wearing clothes that are too big. Or, like me, you wore clothes too tight in the first place.

For me, losing weight and losing sizes happen at different times. For example, ive only lost 5 or so pounds since August, but ive gone from a 20 to a 14 in jeans.

Maggie -

Do not be discouraged.   I read your post yesterday, but a response didn't occur to me until today when I was walking around the office.

Your weight may not be coming off where your clothes go on.  For me, my weight came off my face, neck, chest (not boob part), lower arms, hands and apparently, my feet first.  My rings are all spinning, my watch band hangs half way down my hand and my shoes are flipping and flopping on my feet.

I have gone from a 24 to 14 slack size with a 60+ pound loss, but it seemed like I went from 22 to 16 all at one time.

Hang in there - it all comes together - eventually.
